Hardware

The main computer used is an Apple Macintosh "Blue-and-White" G3 with192 megabytes of RAM and an internal hard drive of 6 gigabytes and an external drive of 4.5 gigabytes.

Software

I use Operating System 9.0 (not particularly recommended; OS 8.6 is just fine). The primary tool used to write the pages is Tex-Edit ($15.00 shareware) and the graphics are manipulated with Graphic Converter ($35.00 shareware).

Internet Providers

My dial-up ISP (Internet Service Provider) is Netdoor in Jackson, Mississippi, and the host of my internet site is TopChoice Systems of Vancover, British Columbia, Canada.

Site Content

The major areas on the CompComm site are: Gray's Mostly Mac; Gray's Coffee Shop; College Without Walls; The Good, the Bad and the Flatout Weird.

Site Philosophy

The site is designed to be informative - fast loading and without "gee-gaws" that slow down the information. I attempt to make the site as attractive as possible but, at the same time, don't use anything that moves or takes five minutes to load. The only reason some pages take a bit to load is the length of a few of the pages and "how-to" pages that rely extensively on gif's - there's no way to avoid slow-loading on these pages.
